Following a long tradition of placing the portrait of the nation's president on the front of its smallest denomination note, the Bank of Botswana issued a new 10 pula note in 2021. This was three years after Mokgweetsi President Eric Keabetswe Masisi was elected to his position. The delay was attributed to COVID-19.
