This new series features a portrait of Reverend John Chilembwe, an orthodox Baptist educator and an early figure in resistance to colonialism in Nyasaland. Today John Chilembwe is celebrated as a hero for independence, and John Chilembwe Day is observed annually on 15 January. The windowed security thread in these notes is now demetalized with the banks initials.
