According to an article on Agence Mauritanienne dInformation, on 1 February 2012, the Banque Centrale de Mauritanie introduced a new 2,000-ouguiya note that is smaller than the preceding issue, and includes several new anti-counterfeiting elements, including a ClearText windowed security thread with demetalized BCM 2000, holographic stripe, and green-to-blue OVI features, as well as a new blue color scheme.
According to a French-language decree 145-2014 dated 2 June 2014, the Banque Central de Mauritanie introduced a new 500-ouguiya note like B116, but without the holographic patch at right front, reduced in size, with electrotype added to the watermark, a windowed security thread, iridescent PEAK (Printed Embossed Anticopy Key) of SCM/500, and LOOK (Laser Originated Optical Key) on three digits of the serial number.
