General information: 1967 Issues
In 1965, Nigeria’s legal tender was changed to reflect the country’s republican status, which had been declared in 1963. As such, the title on the front of the new notes was changed from FEDERATION OF NIGERIA to FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. Additionally, the Niger River scene was replaced by the bank’s headquarters building in Lagos, since moved to Abuja.
