General information: 2010 - 2017 New Generation Currency Issues
These New Generation Currency (NGC) notes were redesigned to enhance security, improve durability, but retain the size, predominant colors, and featured personalities of the preceding
New Design Series (NDS), except for the portrait of President Corazon Aquino which was added to the 500-peso note.
Responding to complaints that the 100- and 1,000-peso banknotes had similar colors, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas improved the contrast between the two by issuing a revised 100- peso banknote with violet color to more easily distinguish it from the blue 1,000-peso note.
