These notes were issued in response to the creation of a new currency for South Sudan after it seceded from northern Sudan on 9 July 2011. The designs are like the preceding issues, but the colors have changed, the map at upper right front has been removed, and the signature and date are new. The 1-pound note was replaced by a coin at the end of November 2011.
For notes issued in South Sudan, see South Sudan.
