On 29 November 1943, the Demokratska Federativna Jugoslavija (Democratic Federative Yugoslavia, DFJ) was established as a provisional state led by Marshal Josip Broz Tito. It lasted exactly two years until 29 November 1945, when the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia was proclaimed after the deposition of King Peter II.
