General information: 1993 - 1994 Nouveau Zaïre Issues
With inflation estimated at 3,000% in 1993, the Banque du Zaïre revalued its currency at a rate of one nouveau zaïre to three million zaïre. From 1993-1994, several denominations were inappropriately printed by Ciccone Calcográfica in Argentina, though they bore the imprint of Hotel des Monnaies. -These notes entered circulation without the official authorization or knowledge of the Banque du Zaïre. As a result, it’s possible to find notes of the same denomination and date from different printers with identical serial numbers.
