Following the change in the name of the country from the Republique du Congo to Zaïre on 27 October 1971, the Banque Nationale du Congo changed its name to the Banque Nationale du Zaïre under Service Order No. 218, 4 November 1971. A correction made by Service Order No. 219, 25 November 1971 changed the name to Banque du Zaïre (BDZ).
